Biomass gasification - General
Fixed-bed gasification of biomass with a downstream gas motor specifically aims at the decentralized supply of electricity and heat as joint products. When compared to combined heat and power production methods based on combustion systems (biomass combustion and steam processes), higher electrical outputs (by a factor of 2 to 3) can be produced in the lower output range. And precisely that is the core requirement for electricity/heat joint production facilities for the lower output range - high electrical output at relatively low thermal output. This characteristic makes the process ideal for increasing the efficiency of heat-controlled facilities (as a base-load facility in conjunction with medium-load facilities).
