CLEANSTGAS - Innovation
CLEANSTGAS makes decentralized energy supply possible based on domestic biomass processed in an innovative staged biomass gasification system. The extremely efficient combined production of heat and power is characterized by high electrical output and lowest emissions at low to medium power ranges (<500 kWel).
CLEANSTGAS stands for Clean Staged Gasification and is based on the world's most innovative technology. The unique aspect of this technology is the process of gasifying wood. Biomass gasification facilities have often suffered from poor product gas quality (e.g. high tar and particle content). Purifying the gas is not only complicated from a technological standpoint, it is also very expensive. The new CLEANSTGAS process results in very pure, tar-free gas after the first stage, which is perfectly suited for use in modern gas motors. The drawbacks of earlier processes (high tar content in the wood gas) have already been eliminated in the first stage.
Efficiency
The decentralized power plant is characterized by high electrical efficiency (≥ 27%) at low and medium power ranges (<500 kWel). The waste heat can be used for heating and for heating water.
In other words, fuel with a thermal rating of about 900 kW can produce up to 250 kW of electricity and 430 kW of heat. An overall efficiency of at least 74% makes this process one of the most efficient technologies worldwide.
Applications
Cleanstgas provides an affordable, local and efficient electricity and heat supply through biomass gasification. A continuous heat demand throughout the whole year to cover base load requirements is the ideal scenario for using Cleanstgas CHPs for the following kinds of application:
- District heating networks (400 kWtherm basic load)
- biomass plants in combination with pellet production
- hotels (especially such with high heat demand for e.g. indoor-pool, wellness-area, big kitchen)
- Business enterprises with all season heat demand
- Communal buildings and facilities (schools, administration buildings)
- forestry operations and agricultural rings
